| Wella Professionals takes centre stage at DSF Fashion Week
The talents of Wella Professionals most experienced technicians along with stylists from the renowned Dubai-based Fadi Chedid Salon were on show last week as they provided the finishing touches to a stunning DSF fashion week 2007. The hair experts were asked to support some of the worlds leading fashion designers in producing unique looks for each of their runway shows using the latest styling techniques, colours and innovative creations. The latest spring and summer collections arrived in Dubai especially for the event straight from the Paris and Milan runways, with the biggest names in the business such as Valentino, Sonia Rykiel, Kenzo, Christian Lacroix and Emanuel Ungaro among those featured. The hair stylists created ultra-feminine, floral and bourgeois looks to complement the clothing collections on display. With each designer, the hairstyles changed dramatically to reflect the essence of each fashion house in turn and the technicians worked closely with leading fashion experts from Paris to perfect the overall aesthetics of the exhibition.
Citadel cutting it even closer — hair, that is
The Citadel moved earlier this month to clarify its hair-length standards, requiring both male and female students to sport shorter styles beginning next school year. All cadets are required to wear a very short hairstyle during their freshman, or "knob," year. Afterward, under a standard accepted over the past four years, cadets have been permitted to have hair grow to just above the collar of their regular duty uniform. Technically, hair that long is not in keeping with the "blue book" of cadet regulations, said Patricia McArver, vice president of communications for The Citadel. Sometime after 2003, the word "dress" was omitted from the blue book description of the type of collared uniform cadets needed to use as a guide in determining hair length, McArver said.
